About

Jose Flores has always been passionate about clothing and fashion, and as a Christian, he considers it very important for believers to know what they are wearing and representing. While in school, he did a research paper on a secular fashion brand, and was struck by the dark messages in some of the designs on their garments. Desiring to create styles that would represent the light of Christ, Jose began working on his own clothing line. His designs were infused with Scriptural imagery to appeal to young people and empower them to boldly express their faith.

Jose chose the name Judah from Revelation 5:5 ~ “See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.” This name used for Christ is a bold, fierce representation of the character of God. For a personal touch, Jose added the first three letters of his last name, Flo from Flores. JudahFlo Apparel was launched in 2007 with one logo and a collection of five designs. Jose began selling T-shirts out of the trunk of his car at plazas and malls near his home in Florida.

As family, friends, and others supported his vision, Jose began to sell as a vendor at youth events around Florida. At times he would stuff his car with boxes of shirts with an empty gas tank and not enough money to stay at a hotel, but he always saw the Lord’s provision. Jose and his team prayed over the clothing before displaying it at events, and often heard stories of how the art and messages were encouraging people.

It was important to Jose to see others dream as well. In 2014, he and his team hosted two faith-based events with an art, music, and fashion theme, inviting youth to exhibit their work in these three areas. Soon after, JudahFlo Apparel began to get opportunities to travel around the US to events and youth conferences. The vision of empowering young people in their faith continues to energize Jose and his team as they see hundreds of youth wearing their clothing.

JudahFlo Apparel’s designs use Scripture, inspirational messages, and artistic symbols to embolden faith and provide a creative witnessing tool. The company’s mission goes beyond business, and in recent years they have been excited to help send mission groups to Haiti and Honduras. The team hopes to continue partnering with ministries by providing clothing designs as well as funding for local and global work. Another future dream is to build a physical storefront, which will also house a work space for creative people using the arts to glorify God.
